Have a Happy Day

Tuesday, April 29, 2014
Today's post is dedicated to all my friends out there who are just not having it today. We cannot be happy all the time. There will be times when we just want to rip every strand of hair off our head or better yet, just take out our anger out on someone. There will be days when you never want to get out of bed because you dread the events that will take place once you leave your safe zone. But you are not alone and you will get through it all.

1. Breathe. The first step into making a cruddy day into a happy day is to simply breathe. Not everything will go your way today, but you can make the best of it. Your mind is going at 60 miles per hour and the only way you can contain all of your thoughts is to stop for a second and just breathe. A simple "hoo hah" a few times can really calm your nerves and cool off your head.

2. Relax your muscles. The minute you are able to achieve step one, your body should instinctively relax. If it does not do this, go take a nice warm bath. A warm bath can ease up any tense muscles in your body and make you relax better. If you do not have time for a bath, get a cup of your favorite tea or coffee. Not a caffeine drinker? No problem! You can simply divulge into your favorite drink (preferably non-alcoholic since we are talking AM right now). Drinking fluids helps keep the blood flowing, your stomach happy, and most of all make your body happy.

3. Make a list of things you want to do to. That's right - I did not tell you to make a list of things you have to do. I am telling you to make a list of things you want to do. When you see the list of things you want to do, you work harder to get to them. Want to see a movie this weekend? Get your work stuff done early in the week so that you have an entire weekend dedicated to planning out your movie marathon. We all have to work hard in order to play hard(er). So let's make the best of it, right?

No one gets it easy, but we can make what we do enjoyable while we are still able to live our lives. We are still young and yes I say young because if you are under the age of 40, you are still young. If you are older than the age of 40, you are wise (not old). Let's do this together and have a stellar day. If anyone deserves it, you do.
